The Niner Designer campaign was a way for me to visualize my experience as a UNC Charlotte Graphic Design student. I made three compositions that reflect different aspects of the program. The first composition (Left) is Classy, this symbolizes the classic design rules and motifs that we are educated on during out freshmen year. The middle composition, Bold, is a personal story from my 2D class. The last composition is titled Colorful. I used UNC Charlotte's classic green and gold to make a composition with the Niner Pickaxe.
I have created a poster that highlights a cleaner design that a student might make in their career. I kept a clean color palette with a simple pop of color for visual interest while using highly recognized imagery such as the Statue of David. This well known statue exemplifies sophistication and attention to detail. The Statue of David is known for his relaxed contrapposto stance and the look of determination in his eyes just like the students do at UNC Charlotte.
For my second poster in this series, I wanted to use a collage of stickers with a personal story from my time at UNC Charlotte. I wanted each piece in this series to be different but cohesive so they all include some sort of circle. In this case it is the blue circle sticker that's been ripped apart. I wanted this piece to have a lot of texture and overlapping which I did through compiling the stickers. I used a handwritten font to give this piece more of a handmade or handwritten feeling.
My next piece uses imagery and text to create a colorful yet simple design to express qualities of UNC Charlotte’s Graphic Design Program. Each student is unique and creative in their own way and shines through their designs. I incorporated the classic green and gold colors of UNC Charlotte along with a pickaxe and gem textured background. The axe shows how students are able to break through challenges and find great designs within themselves. I incorporated professors names from the program to symbolize how they help push their students to produce their best work.
